Membership Policy
Old Laboratorians' Association (OLSA) — Membership Policy
Based on the OLSA Constitution (গঠনতন্ত্র), Articles 6–9.
1. Eligibility (Article 6.1)
Any former student of Government Laboratory High School, Dhaka who has:
- Studied at the school for at least one (1) year, AND
- Passed a full annual examination and been promoted to the next class
may apply for membership.
2. Member Types (Article 7)
2.1 Founder Members — Those who established OLSA. They enjoy full voting rights. If not a Lifetime Member, they pay annual subscription.
2.2 General Members — All Founder, Lifetime, and duly enrolled members. General Members may vote on all matters.
2.3 Lifetime Members — Must have been an alumnus for at least 10 years after their SSC examination. Pay a one-time fee (currently BDT 20,000). No annual subscription required. Full voting and candidacy rights.
3. Subscription Fees (Article 6.3)
- Annual (General/Founder): BDT 1,200 per year (January 1 – December 31)
- Lifetime (one-time): BDT 20,000
- The Executive Council may revise fee amounts with General Assembly approval.
4. Membership Application (Article 6.2)
- Complete the official application form and submit with the annual subscription.
- Applications are reviewed and approved/rejected at the next Executive Council meeting.
- If approved, the applicant is notified within 3 working days.
5. Loss of Membership (Article 8)
Membership may be cancelled for:
- Non-payment of subscription
- Voluntary resignation
- Declared insane or bankrupt
- Activity contrary to the constitution
- Anti-state or anti-social conduct
- Death
- Three consecutive Executive Council absences without permission (EC members only)
6. Reinstatement (Article 9)
A former member who lost membership may apply in writing to the President/Secretary with a satisfactory explanation. If 2/3 of the Executive Council approves, membership is reinstated upon payment of all arrears.
